I appreciate your sincerity Sam. I believe you are grappling with something very important. I hope that more and more of us will turn towards the question of reality which has now become so pressing.

One question regards the inclusiveness of the collective reality you claim we shared. I think on investigation it turns out to have been limited to certain members and did not include others, so in that sense was more similar to the earlier, culturally mediated forms you claim it superceded.

I agree it's all on a spectrum but I think the trend was towards a more inclusive, shared sense of reality and now we're going in the opposite direction

I agree. The interesting historical question is when and how the trend started to reverse itself and how it gathered steam. From that perspective I think AI is more of a continuation than a break. Are you thinking about this?

I think the rise of social media algorithms was when it really started. Which is a form of AI, although not what most people are necessarily talking about when they say AI
